Lakeside

Located in the east county of San Diego Lakeside, California has a rich and vibrant history.
In 1886 Lakeside was officially named a town with the building of the Lakeside Inn, but before the opening of the inn, people have been coming to Lakeside for several years to enjoy what the area could offer.
The first people to enjoy Lakeside were the Kumeyaay Indians. They would migrate here from the coast to enjoy the moderate winters and the county’s only natural lake where they would fish, hunt and gather. They would meet at their sacred “great rocks” of the mountains. The Kumeyaay descendants are still in Lakeside today. Just up Wildcat Canyon Rd, you can visit the reservation.
